Why do states mandate helmet laws, seat belt laws, bicycle helmets and other things that intrude into our private lives that are no business of any govt. For our own good you say. Since when did I become a two year old who can’t take care of himself or make decisions? Want to get a shock. Go look up head injury statistics after mandatory bicycle helmet laws were passed. Bet you think they went down don’t ya? That would be wrong. Yep, wrong. Head injuries actually went up. So how many states have rescinded bicycle helmet laws?
I don’t know about you but I’m damn tired of the govt treating me like a child. Stay the hell out of my personal life. No one needs to protect me from myself. All that kind of BS does is cost us money and make us less safe rather than safer.
Why are we still wasting so much time teaching children about stranger danger when we should be teaching them about the danger from relatives and friends. About 4 times more children are molested or harmed by relatives and friends than are harmed by strangers. Seems to me our concern is totally misplaced.
Why haven’t we legalized marijuana? It’s not near as dangerous as alcohol and it has many medicinal uses and other uses. Why are we still keeping people in prison for smoking weed? Why aren’t we taxing it and collecting the billions this country needs instead of fighting it and spending billions on something we really can’t control to begin with?
Why do we have millions in prison for non violent crimes? Is it because we enjoy locking up people and paying big bucks to keep them locked up. Non violent crimes can be taken care of with house arrest, community service, infrastructure rebuilding and a ton of other things. Instead of paying to house and feed them why aren’t we using them as sources to solve some of the infrastructure problems we have in this country?
Why is it that the no child left behind act is leaving every child behind? Why is it that what used to be a C is now an A-. Why is it that what used to be an F is now a C. My girlfriends granddaughter is on the A honor roll every quarter. She’s totally top 5% in her school but nationally shes somewhere around the 70th percentile. Why aren’t the standards for grades, tests and all the rest of measurable things in schools standard all over the country? Sheesh, build their self esteem by giving them higher grades because the grading scale was lowered doesn’t make them smarter or give them higher self esteem. However when they make it to the real world and discover that they are only average they realize they’ve been lied to by the very people they trusted, teachers and parents. Oops, so much for that supposed rise is self esteem by letting everyone make higher grades.
Why do adults treat kids like they’re stupid? Show me one first grader who doesn’t know who the smartest kid in class is. Show me one first grader who doesn’t know who the best athlete in class is. Show me one first grader who believes the BS about winning doesn’t matter. Show me one first grader who doesn’t know who the winners and losers are in their class. IF kids are smart enough to know that they are smart enough to know that the crap we call self esteem building is a crock. Giving everyone an award telling them they are a winner when they got beat 10 to nothing doesn’t build elf esteem, it builds cynicism.
Why is it people always want lower taxes and smaller govt then have a fit when a few people die in bridge collapses, gas line explosions and get killed by the food they eat. Smaller govt and lower taxes means less govt inspectors so we die because we want lower taxes and smaller govt.
Why do we want lower taxes and then whine when that means laying off cops and firemen? Cops and firemen have to be paid to. If no one wants to pay the taxes to pay them then they have no right to whine about poor law enforcement or poor fire response. Heh, people seem to forget that you get what you pay for.
What drugs are people taking that lets them believe they can have smaller govt, lower taxes and be safe and secure at all times? I sure wish I could find some of them because they obviously remove the constraints of reality.
I guess I’m not as old mentally as I thought I was. Sheesh, I’m 65 and the dummy, Geoff, on the Craig Ferguson show just cracks me up. OTOH maybe I’m slipping into dementia and don’t know it. The dummy needs a show of his own, or at least a comic book. They could call it #^^*$#(*@$% Dummy.
Heh, I could sleep with Sarah Palin(AKA the idiot elf) as she’s not all that bad looking. We wouldn’t have a problem at all but the first time she opened her mouth to speak, I’m afraid I’d have to leave. Obama should just declare Sarah Palin(AKA idiot elf) a national disaster. Then she’d become a FEMA problem and we all know how well FEMA deals with problems.
